Since its foundation in 1991, the University of South Bohemia in ?eské Budějovice (USB) has been consistently advancing science and education in the region. The eight faculties of the University are furnished with cutting-edge technologies and take part in international projects and research consortia (KreativEU) across the European continent and the world.

USB is home to several key research infrastructures like CENAKVA (Research Center of Aquaculture and Biodiversity of Hydrocenoses), research laboratories in Papua New Guinea, and the Centre for Polar Ecology. It is also the close proximity to the Biology Centre of the Czech Academy of Sciences that helps USB researchers bring about excellent results and publish in renowned journals (Nature, Science, PNAS).

As a public university, USB educates almost 9,000 students in more than 200 bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degree programmes in addition to other lifelong learning programmes that serve the local community. Our commitment to education in natural and social sciences, humanities as well as health-oriented fields has allowed USB to score high in international rankings, e.g. 251-300 place in 色盒直播 Young University rankings (1st among universities in the Czech Republic), or the top spot in Leiden rankings on scientific impact in the Czech Republic.
